Germiston at a glance

Germiston is situated in Gauteng’s East Rand and was established during the era of the gold rush when entrepreneurs explored the rich lands of South Africa in the hopes of getting rich on this precious metal. The town was built next to a mine and today it is a thriving suburb with a bustling residential market.

The city lies just 35 minutes away from Sandton and 22 minutes from the O.R Tambo International Airport. This close proximity to the business hub effortlessly allows residents to live in Germiston while working in Sandton.

Germiston is one of the oldest cities in South Africa and this is most pronounced in its Victorian and Dutch style architecture. The old buildings and churches have been well-kept, some dating back as far as 1905. Alexander Hotel and St Andrew's Presbyterian Church are great examples of this brilliant architecture.
