Category Area News
South Africa has a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in the world. The quality of crops grown in the Western Cape can rival the best on earth and it is partly due to the rich heritage of excellent winemaking that our soil is trusted at this level. Swartland Winery in Malmesbury is one such establishment that produces wines of exceptional distinction and is a highlight in every connoisseur's approval ratings.
About the winery
Aged to perfection, Swartland Winery has been operating for over 70 years. Beginning as a simple wine cellar, the facility is now a proud private-service wine business with a successful list of achievements in the industry. Clients can revel in a truly unique wine experience that satisfies all aspects of winemaking. The winery harvests its grapes from the rolling mountains and farms of Malmesbury on the way to Paarl. The grapes are believed to have a distinctive flavour due to the chilly breeze from the Atlantic Ocean that lends a taste of fresh ocean air to the wines. The unique notes found in the countless blends of wine produced by Swartland Winery make it a popular choice amongst locals and tourists alike.
A historic venue steeped in tradition
At present day, Swartland Winery produces approximately 2 million bottles of wine. The Swartland Manor House was built in 1977, however, the winery had been operating independently for several years leading up to this moment. With a solid collaboration between local farmers and having established the iconic brand of Swartland Winery as early as 1948, the winery has become a successful institution and a place of pride in the Western Cape region. With a supply of over 2 500 tons of grapes, the harvests always look set to produce magnificent crops of a high quality, which get turned into Swartland Winery's finest.
Now, the winery exports bottles of wine to Europe and has become a top-seller in many countries worldwide. In 2029, the winery celebrated an excellent 70th harvest year. A milestone for any high-level operation such as Swartland Winery. 2019 saw the business grow into more robust efforts of marketing, branding and new corporate identity development that is sure to make its presence felt in the world of wine.
