However, as the Museum did not align with the company's core business, a decision was made in 2003 to close its doors.
Fortunately, in 2004, news of the impending closure reached the ears of Mr Johann Rupert, who recognized the immense value and significance of this collection, originally initiated by his father. Determined to preserve this cultural treasure, Mr Rupert made the commendable decision to acquire the collection and embark on a new chapter. The Collection found its new home at the enchanting L'Ormarins Estate in the charming Franschhoek region.
This act of preservation and relocation ensured that the Museum's Collection, with its rich history and extraordinary vehicles, would continue to inspire and captivate audiences for generations to come. Under the careful custodianship of Mr Johann Rupert, the Collection flourished, offering visitors a truly unique and immersive experience in the idyllic setting of L'Ormarins Estate in Franschhoek.
