Say cheers to great beers at Woodstock Brewery

Category Property News

Since its debut in 2014, Woodstock Brewery has been more than just a local watering hole. When Andre Viljoen, the visionary behind the brand, transformed an old paint factory into a bustling brewery, he laid the foundation for a local institution

While the quirky-named beers and their vibrant flavours have people talking (and coming back for seconds), it's all backed by a sheer commitment to premium ingredients, unmatched craftsmanship, and cutting-edge equipment. Beyond the perfect pint, Woodstock Brewery is also an experience; it's a cultural hub, renowned for fascinating tours, scrumptious food, lively music, and a heart that beats for the community.

Sip and savour every beer

According to one of their enthusiastic Google reviewers, "if you can't find a beer here you like, you really should switch to wine". It really is the case with such an exciting selection.

On Woodstock Brewery's drinks menu, you'll find Born Slippy, a light, crisp, easy-drinking lager, Happy Pills, a feel-good brew with a slightly spicy straw aroma, and Danzn, bursting with a rich tart flavour. Slice of Life perks you up with a zesty lemony zing, while Rhythm Stick has a delicious biscuit and passion fruit taste. Californicator, their must-taste flagship drink, gives off rich tropical and citrus fruit aromas. Those with a sweet tooth will love Mr Brownstone's smooth, chocolatey finish or the caramel notes of Pot Belge. Ever innovative, the brewery also offers speciality and seasonal beers to keep things interesting.

Take a taproom and tour trip

While Woodstock Brewery's beers can be ordered online, Viljoen says it's best drunk chilled and fresh in the shade of the brewery. At the taproom, you can sample their selection and nibble on a dedicated menu of chicken strips, smoked bacon, loaded fries, and more. It's best to bring a healthy appetite as well as a thirst. Besides this, you can book a tour and learn about the business's fascinating story and the art of beer making.

Dine and draft the Woodstock way

When you've found your favourite beer, it's time to pair it with a meal. Woodstock Brewery has a Bavarian beer hall-style restaurant with a menu filled with comfort food. For starters and light bites, you can sink your teeth into crispy chicken wings, fiery jalapeño poppers, or savoury soft tacos.

For your mains, you can choose from juicy burgers and generously loaded platters to succulent steaks, fall-off-the-bone ribs, aromatic curries, and perfectly fried hake. And for a sweet finale? Indulge in classics like velvety ice cream, rich malva pudding, or a decadent brownie. Good service and affordable prices are in tune with the restaurant's motto - 100% good vibes only.

Don't miss the live music and events

Over the years, Woodstock Brewery has become the place for showcasing creative talent and just having an all-around good time. The brewery has seen performances by renowned artists like Jack Parow, Arno Carstens, Albert Frost, and Prime Circle. Tribute nights celebrating legends like Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, and ABBA have brought nostalgic waves to the brewery. And when the venue isn't filled with great tunes, it's hosting coding quiz nights, Halloween bashes, or turning on the big screen for the latest soccer or rugby match.

Raising a hand, not just a glass

Beyond the great beer, food, and entertainment, Woodstock Brewery is also a business that respects its place in the community. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the brewery made headlines - instead of brewing their signature ales and lagers, their giant copper vats were repurposed to produce a staggering 5,000 litres of nourishing vegetable soup every day. For six days a week, charity trucks lined up to collect the soup that fed those impacted by the pandemic. By the close of March 2020, Woodstock Brewery had served a staggering 1.7 million meals.
